සීතාවක රාජසිංහ රජ සමයේ හේවාහැට ප්‍රදේශයේ මන්දාරම්පුර නමින් මනරම් කුඩා නගරයක් ඉදිවිය. රාජසිංහ රජු ශිව සමය වැළඳීමෙන් පසු ඉන්දීය ශිව පූජකයන් ලක්දිවට ගෙන්වා උඩරට ඇතුළු විවිධ ස්ථානවල ස්ථානගත කළේය. ඔවුන්ට පෙර ගිරි නම් ශිව පූජකයා ජීවත් වූයේ මේ මන්දාරම්පුරේය. 1 වැනි විමලධර්මසූරිය රජු (1591-1604) මන්දාරම්පුර ඇතුළු සත් සිව මඩුළු කතාව වටා මන්දාරම්පුර කතා පොතක් කළේය.

විමලධර්මසූරියගේ මරණයෙන් පසු සෙනරත් රජු (ක්‍රි.ව. 1604-1635) බලයට පත් විය. රන්දෙණිවෙල සටනේදී කොන්ස්ටන්ටයින් ද සා සෙනෙවියා ප්‍රමුඛ පෘතුගීසීන් පරාජය කළ සෙනරත් රජු රට වටේ සංචාරය කරන අතරතුර හුඟුරන්කෙත මාලිගයට පැමිණියේය. ඉන් පසු මන්දාරම්පුර පහන ඇල්ල වලව්වට පැමිණ දින හයක් නිදැල්ලේ ගත කළ බව පැවසේ. වර්තමානයේ පවා බොහෝ දෙනා මෙම ගමට යන්නේ නගරයේ තදබදයෙන් මිදී නිදහස් හා සුන්දර පරිසරයක් භුක්ති විඳීමට ය.

රජුගේ පැමිණීමේ පුවත මන්දාරම්පුර ප්‍රවෘත්ති පොතේ විස්තර වන්නේ “බෙලිහුලිනේතර සාදි රජුගේ මාලිගාවට ගොස් දිනක් එහිද ගත කළේය” යනුවෙනි. එසේම උඩරට ඇතැම් රජවරු හඟුරන්කෙත මාලිගාවට නුදුරු මන්දාරම්පුරයට රහසේ පැමිණ සතුරු ආක්‍රමණ පැමිණි විට සැඟවී සිටි බව ජනප්‍රවාදයකි. සෙනරත් රජු හේවාහැට අවට මන්දාරම්පුර ඇතුළු ගම් දහයක කෝරළය කරවා එහි සංවර්ධන කටයුතු කර ඇත.

During the reign of Sitawaka Rajasingha, a beautiful small town named Mandarampura was built in the Hewaheta area. After King Rajasingha embraced the Shiva season, he brought Indian Shiva priests to Lakdi and stationed them in various places including upland. Giri, the Shiva priest before them, lived in this Mandarampura. King Wimaladharmasuriya 1st (1591-1604) made Mandarampura story book around the story of Sat Siva Madulu including Mandarampura.

King Senarath (1604-1635 AD) came to power after Vimaladharmasuriya’s death. King Senarath defeated the Portuguese led by Constantine de Sa Senevia in the Battle of Randeniwela and came to Hunguranketha Palace during his tour around the country. After that, it is said that he came to Pahana Ella Palace in Mandarampura and spent six days in free recovery. Even nowadays, most people go to this village to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy a free and beautiful environment.

The news of the King’s arrival is described in the Mandarampura news book as “Belihulinetara Sadi went to the king’s palace and spent a day there as well.” Also, it is a matter of legend that some of the kings of the Upland secretly came to Mandarampura, which is not far from the Hanguranketha Palace, and hid when enemy invasions came. King Senarath has done the Korala of ten villages including Mandarampura around Hewaheta and has done development work there.
